Feature request: byo-yomi (countdown)
For decades, chess match commentators, chess match players, and chess match spectators have routinely complained about one player having more time on the clock than the opponent.
For centuries, go and shogi players have had no such problem, because they use a byo-yomi (countdown) clock; not an increment clock, and not a sudden death clock. We should learn from Japan, Korea, etc. who are starting to experiment with increment and sudden death clocks for match play (their experiment results stand for themselves).
If my characterization of chess players is offensive, it is because our barbaric traditions result in zeitnot and blood on the clock, and we tend to be prejudiced against the unfamiliar; we may give lip service to the idea that we are open-minded, but truly are we open-minded? -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/toadofsky
