Welcome to Vlade's review of Felvidek, the indie RPG that's been taking the gaming world by storm! (or so I'm told)
In this video, I dive deep into this utterly unique JRPG experience that combines historical Slovakia with surreal horror and dark comedy. Developed by solo developer Jozef Pavelka using RPG Maker, Felvidek is a game unlike anything you've played before.
Set in 15th century Slovakia, you play as Pavol - an alcoholic knight whose wife has just left him, dealing with Hussite pillagers, Ottoman spies, and increasingly bizarre supernatural threats. Think medieval Slovakia meets psychological horror with a healthy dose of dark humor.
Key Features I Cover:
🗡 ️ Unique Setting: Explore an alternate history version of the Slovak Highlands
🎨 Stunning Hand-Drawn Art: PS1-inspired visuals with incredible attention to detail
🎵 Original Soundtrack: Music by Czech psychedelic band Marcel that perfectly complements the surreal atmosphere
📖 Compelling Story: A tale of faith, vice, and inner demons (maybe actual demons too)
⚔ ️ Turn-Based Combat: Classic JRPG battles with a medieval twist
🕐 Compact Experience: 3–6 hours of dense, memorable gameplay
Whether you're a fan of indie RPGs, interested in Slavic culture and history, or just looking for something completely different, this review will help you decide if Felvidék is worth your time.
