This video pairs an Eric Johnson Stratocaster with the Mustang GTX50 and takes a tour through many of Fender's own amp models along with a couple of others for good measure. Mostly classic tones here, no high gain stuff (another video perhaps). I've recorded the Mustang GTX's Stereo Line Outs and an SM57 channel in parallel so we can compare them in this A/B situation. Microphone placement will have a significant effect on the 57's channel, of course, but I've used my tried and true method to get what we have here. Some Low Cut at 80Hz was applied to the SM57 channel, nothing to the DI channel. I used a PreSonus Quantum to send both signals to Logic and used Logic's native 'Classical' mastering bus setting for some light limiting. Aside from that, what you see (and hear) is what you get. My verdict? These amps are a LOT more than just a versatile practice solution. They can be employed for serious recording and stage applications, no problem. Coupled with the Tone 3.0 App and/or the GTX-7 FC, they'd be hard to beat if you're looking for a versatile modelling amp.
