I passed it to the first player on the left/upper that I had my original target on. I did not pass it to the second player on the right/below. The game decided to take things into it's own hand and not only miss the original player I passed it to and the second player but passed it to the opponent; obvious scripting. So now I give up with FIFA 21 online because of this.
