FIFO Locke Tutorial -- Custom Nuzlocke Variant Tutorials
Hello and welcome to this tutorial on a First-In First-Out, or FIFO Locke. This gameplay style is a variation on a Nuzlocke Pokemon playthrough. This tutorial aims to describe the rules of a FIFO Locke so you can either understand the playthroughs on my channel or try it out for yourself.
The Rules are as follows:
Because this is a variation of a Nuzlocke, all normal Nuzlocke rules apply.
1. If a pokemon faints, it is considered dead and can no longer be used.
2. Throughout the game, only the first pokemon encountered in each unique route can be caught. If that pokemon flees, faints, or is run away from, the encounter is forfeited and no other pokemon can be caught in that route. There are 2 caveats to this rule: If the first encountered pokemon is in the same evolution line as a pokemon that has already been caught, the player can continue to re-encounter until they get a pokemon of a species they haven't yet caught (species clause) or if at any time a shiny pokemon is encountered, the player can catch and use this pokemon regardless of where it was encountered (shiny clause).
3. All pokemon must be nicknamed to encourage forming an emotional bond.
4. If all the pokemon on the team and in the PC die, the player loses. However, if the entire team dies but there are pokemon in the PC that are still alive, the player can continue with those pokemon.
In addition to these normal nuzlocke rules, a FIFO Locke adds on 2 additional rules:
1. Pokemon must be added to the team in the order in which they were caught. Once my team reaches 6 pokemon, all additional pokemon must go into the PC and cannot be added onto the team until a slot opens because of a death and there are no pokemon in the PC caught before that pokemon.
2. Player must attempt to catch all encounters within reason. I cannot choose to run from an encounter to avoid a bad team member unless staying in and continuing to try and catch the pokemon would risk causing a death.
The goal is to beat the game using these restrictions. If you want to try this style out for yourself, let me know how it goes! I'd be super happy to know someone else is enjoying my gameplay style!
