Final Fantasy XIII-2 - Opponent: Lightning & Amodar (Coliseum Battle)
238The DLC released 2/7/2012 for Final Fantasy XIII-2, is a Coliseum challenge called Operation XIII-2. You fight Lightning and Amodar, a Ravager and Commando duo. You can beat them using different strategies and paradigms, but this is what I used. I show my player stats at the end of the video, including monsters, and paradigms.
MONSTERS:
You will need a ravager for sure, since you need to chain them to stagger. A medic is another thing to have on hand. The last monster is up to you, SYN, SAB, SEN, or COM, but I chose COM to add additional damage during the stagger. The important thing is to chose a Ravager monster that doesn't use Lightning or Fire magic, since both are ineffective in this fight.
My Strategy:
The first part is just Lightning by herself. Your goal is to stagger her, since once she is staggered, the battle will pause for Amodar to enter, and that is when the real battle begins. They both have similar values of HP, so it doesn't really matter who you focus on first. I just chose Amodar.
So I focus on Amodar, and get him to stagger. The key thing is to try and kill him before the stagger is over, or else you will have to stagger him again. This is because once the stagger is over, Lightning will probably heal him a lot, and he will turn into a Sentinel.
Once you finish him off, the battle is much easier with just Lightning. She will start to do her Limit Break attack, Army of One, so make sure to turn to SEN/SEN/MED before that happens. Other than that, just keep chaining until she staggers, and the fight is over.
Rare drop: Sergeant's Badge (Lieutenant Amodar), Lightning Cross (Lightning)
Paradigms:
• COM/COM/COM - I try to use this only used when the enemy is in staggered state.
• COM/RAV/RAV - Build up the chain, the COM is used to keep the chain from draining fast.
• RAV/RAV/RAV - To build up the chain, used in conjunction with the above paradigm. Use the ATB gauge trick (look it up)
• SAB/SAB/MED - Use Imperil on Amodar, to raise your chain % faster. When fighting Lightning, use Deprotect and Deshell before she is staggered.
• SYN/SEN/MED - Basically a slow boost for our team (SYN), while MED monster heals.
• SEN/SEN/MED - Avoiding major damage, and healing.
Other comments:
• Dreadnought and his Synchronization attack is so cool. I got him in the Vile Peaks 10 AF, in one of those tunnels. One of my strongest COM Monsters, he is adorned with a giant star on his head.
• Cloudburst, I don't remember where I got him but I was lucky to have him. He has both wind and ice attacks, but not only that, his Sync attack is a full team buff! Also, his magic stat is off the charts, compared to my other current monsters.
• Flanitor is dope! I got him somewhere in the Augusta Tower. I infused him with another monster (some snail creature). He has all sorts of curative spells, and is the best MED I've seen so far. I heard good things about the Green Chocobo, but Flanitor is too good. Adorned with giant purple glasses, since the black ones where harder to distinguish.
• My only accessory is the Ribbon, which gives 40% resistance to basically everything, I got from Serependity. I suggest using something with fire and lightning resistance in the battle.
