Hello everyone and today, we'll be completing The Greatwood, the first action stage in Final Fantasy XVI (Aside from the unreplayable prologue stages). Final Fantasy XVI was a fantastic game with great and fun gameplay, excellent story, memorable characters, amazing soundtrack, and awesome boss fights, especially the Eikon boss fights. It is honestly Game of the Year for me so far. Because this game is just THAT awesome, I decided to a walkthrough on the game's arcade mode, which allows us to replay levels and get a score high enough for a S Rank. You're also set at a very specific EXP level and gear for each action stage, but you're allowed to select which Eikon abilities to take before going into the level (Abilities from Phoenix, Titan, Bahamut, and Odin are the best choices). To kick things off we, got The Greatwood, where Clive and Cid search for the Dominant that supposedly killed Clive's younger brother, Joshua, encountering various monsters, plants, and soldiers along the way. There are 2 bosses in this stage, the first being Fafnir, a giant lizard. Being the first boss in the game (Aside from the prologue bosses, which are unfortunately unreplayable), this guy ain't hard, just dodge his attacks and keep striking at him to win the fight. Once he loses enough of his health, Fafnir will roll around the arena in an attempt to crush you, but this attack isn't too hard to avoid, but he will do it again if you don't kill him fast enough. The second and last boss of the stage is Midnight Raven, who would go on to become a mini boss type enemy for the rest of the game, who is also pretty easy, but can still easily hit if your not quick enough to dodge his attacks. He also has a few QTE events throughout the fight, with one being required to defeat him. The Eikon abilities are especially useful in these fights as they can do plenty of damage to the boss, especially once their staggered (Recommend turning on the Limit Break as well once the boss is staggered to deal even more damage). Said Eikon Abilities will also help you get a S Rank on the action stages… Especially since I heard that they are the ONLY way to get a S Rank on the action Stages. Oh, I should also mention that you only get 4 potions, 3 High Potions, and in later stages, 2 elixirs for the entire stage, and if you die, you will get a chance to retry from a checkpoint with replenished health items, BUT your total score will automatically drop to zero and you can kiss that S Rank goodbye until the NEXT time you play the level FROM THE BEGINNING (Which makes certain stages including the second to last level 10 times more harder). That being said, if you can master the game's combat, learn how to dodge at the right time, learn to how to save your potions, and, for some people like myself, learn how to properly time one of Odin's abilities or else face the wrath of taking damage, you'll be able to S Rank all of the action stages in no time. One action stage is down, but we got plenty more to go, and they're gonna get even crazy from this point forward (And longer too, so don't be surprised if some stages get split into 2 parts). Like always, I hope you all enjoy the video.
