Everybody's favourite new sudoku variant returns today with Sandra and Nala's latest Fog Of War puzzle, Looking For A Friend. This is an educational puzzle not just because it's an approachable solve but because it was apparently originally published in a slightly different form. Can you see why it is essential that r5c5 is revealed in the initial grid?

Rules:
After it gets dark Nala loves to go outside and look for new friends in our backyard. Will she find one today? Normal sudoku rules apply. Digits along a thermometer increase from the bulb end to the tip. There is only one tip for each thermometer and each thermometer has its own colour. Elements of the same colour are connected. Digits separated by a white dot are consecutive. Digits separated by a black dot are in a 1:2 ratio. Not all possible dots are given. Additionally the grid is partially covered in fog. Placing correct digits will clear the fog from surrounding cells, possibly revealing more clues.
