The first map in the challenge where I really felt the low level restriction. Handling three waves of enemies from different parts of the map is challenging when nobody besides Chrom (and possibly also the newcomer Panne) can take on multiple foes at once, ORKO and not die too easily. Neither Chrom nor Panne are invincible regardless and being limited to retaliating with 1-range on enemy phase further curbs what they can do. As the difficulty goes up, it also becomes clear how banning tonic usage affects the way the run plays out. For instance, a single defence tonic on Donnel, supported by Kellam in this map, would make him nigh unkillable, but otherwise he'd rather not face more than three enemies at full health. Boosting offensive stats would also help other units ORKO problematic foes out of the way.

Because Gaius is recruited early among the westernmost enemies, Chrom is sent there with Robin glued to him. Robin can take on two-three dark mages and counter them with a decent enough chance to deal significant damage in retaliation if not outright ORKO thanks to Chrom's dual strikes, where are common enough even at C-support level. Chrom takes the central role again when the mages are out of the way; he doesn't care if the enemies attack using lances or axes due to his level advantage.

The unit that arrives on turn 2, Panne, has some of the best pairup bonuses in the party at base, as boosting both strength and speed is a rarity - Barbarian/Berserker classes with the same bonus are only available to promoted Vaike when second seals aren't factored in. However, when she's around, you'll probably want to have her fight instead considering she can take AND dish out serious punishment. Somewhat overlevelled in comparison to the low level fellas, Panne is going to disappear from the party for a while, but she is sure to return soon enough, not being a prepromote or anything, and it's up to us how we use her then. Her reclass to Wyvern Rider is certainly one of the best uses for the first second seal chapter 8, with Donnel being the main competitor, and I suppose Chrom and Gregor also considering Cavalier and Fighter reclasses for reliable 1-2 range combat.

The right-hand side is handled by the two mages' pairup and Donnel/Kellam. Neither can reliably one-round or withstand consecutive rounds of combat, and eventually they create a two-tile chokepoint to aovid being destroyed by the wave of enemies coming from the east. Miriel tanking physical attacks with her face is rather comical, in a way.

It is a lot more natural for Sumia to hold the chokepoint in the south, after we set up two dark mages to block the way for the rest of the foes. If it were, say, Maribelle doing the same with her slightly more modest resistance stat, the AI would be too clever to fall for the same trick - the mages would make way for a thief to double and ORKO Maribelle. She is needed to run healing support; something in dire need in this map.

Despite being several levels below Chrom, Sumia's quality level-ups make her at least as good as him at combat after she uses the map's boss Validar for experience. I guess we won't be seeing her for a while in this run!
