Finally DayZ standalone released! This is early alpha access, it was released about 20 - 30 hours ago! You won't see much action in here, because firearms are now extremely rare and ammo even harder to find. In my 5h session i found only 1 pistol without ammo and didn't hear a single gunshot! So now DayZ is truly a survivor game, food supplies are limited too, stores no longer have massive amounts of loot, you may end up getting no loot at all in huge store.
You can buy the game here:
http://dayzgame.com - it no longer required arma2 / arma3, as said, it is STANDALONE version, it's now considered as a seperate game from arma, even tho it still uses same engine as arma2.
It sure looks promising, but i found lot of bugs that needs to be fixed, every since dayz was released, Rocket could not figure out how to deal with zombies, even tho it's a zombie game, so now it seems like zombies do not respawn .. wtf?
another issue is still with LAGGG, seems like DayZ runs off of single core and does not take advantage of multi-core CPUs, just like arma2 and arma3, he needs to fix this. in some places i had like 14fps and i have 8-core CPU @ 4.1ghz with GTX680 Phantom, enough to run any new game on ultra and still get 30fps+
Other than that, it's a great game. Characters seem new, sounds are improved, effects are improved, lot of melee stuff, inventory system is improved, however i think it is now possible to hide a weapon, so you can't tell if someone is armed or not.
There's still lot i haven't checked out, but i will get to it.
