I first played Football Manager in 1982 when it was released on the ZX Spectrum - I last played it in 2010. It's a number-heavy game of business, contracts, player and press relations, and, of course, Association Football (a.k.a Soccer). Unlike many other FM creators, I know very little about football.

This video series explores an older nerd's fascination with the 2022 edition of Sports Interactive's Football Manager unencumbered by any understanding of the beautiful game. Can I translate a passion for numbers, business, and turn-based strategy into success in one of the world's most detailed football management simulation?

My team of choice is my local team, Brackley Town, recent winners of the FA Trophy, and promotion hopefuls in the 6th Tier of English football, the Vanarama National League North. Come on you Saints!

I am playing as one of the finest coaches in English football. Hope Powell, 60 international caps for her country and fifteen years managing the national team. This save imagines that Hope gets tired of life in Brighton and decides to relocate as far from the English coast as it is nearly possible to be - Brackley, Northamptonshire. 20 miles from Northampton, 30 from Oxford. Hope has come to Brackley Town - what fortune does she bring with her?
