0The term fulía refers to a variety of folk genres in Venezuela generally performed as part of the vigils of the Cruz de Mayo. Of these genres, there are two that are especially prominent: the fulía central (spanning the coastal areas of the Capital, Central, and Central-Western regions, notably Barlovento) and the fulía oriental (Spanish:"Eastern fulía") or cumanesa (Spanish: "from Cumaná") (endemic to the states of Sucre and Nueva Esparta).
