thanks to the summer system update (live on sept 30th for america) you can now display Wii mode games on the Wii U Gamepad. this includes regular Wii games, VC games, Wiiware games and GC games through Homebrew.
this update doesn't affect the homebrew capabilities of vWii so you can run Devolution and other apps like before without any changes.
i guess this makes the Wii portable like the Wii U since you no longer need a TV for Backwards Compatibility.
one problem atm is that the homebrew channel defaults to 4:3 display. they'll need to release an update that corrects this. Wii games and VC games display in 16:9 without problems.
