Germany's Hindu Temple Set to Open in Diwali | ISH News
1,973Berlin, Germany is getting ready to welcome something very special this year - the biggest Hindu temple in Germany! After a very long wait of 20 years, the Sri-Ganesha Hindu Temple is finally set to open its doors in the capital city of Berlin, just in time for Diwali 2023. This incredible journey was led by Mr. Vilwanathan Krishnamurthy (70). Mr. Krishnamurthy moved to Berlin nearly 50 years ago and wanted to create a place for the Hindu community to come together and celebrate their traditions. The project started back in 2004, and it's taken a lot of hard work to reach this point. Financial challenges, rules, approvals, and deadlines made it a tough journey, but they didn't give up. They funded the temple with their own donations, without help from the government. In recent years, young Indian techies living in Berlin also helped. Now, the temple building is ready, but it's missing something very important - the Gods! Special stone figures are coming all the way from India. There will be 27 of them in total. Mr. Krishnamurthy wants everything to be ready in November, by Diwali, so they can start a six-day celebration called Kumbhabhishekam. "We believe in God, that he supports us," he says. And soon, they'll have their gods right there in their beautiful temple in Berlin. This is a remarkable achievement, a dream that took two decades to come true. Thanks to Mr. Krishnamurthy's dedication and the support of many generous people, Germany's largest Hindu temple is about to open its doors, and it's going to be a place of joy and celebration for everyone in the Hindu in the country.
