Almost every 1CC I've done of Gradius III SNES has been without the bonus stages over the past few years, yet I've known of their existence pretty much ever since I got into the series. Since I don't have any videos of the bonus stages in this game (whereas my videos for Gradius PC-Engine and Gradius ReBirth show them off), I figured I'd make a run showcasing all of them. Just for added fun, I did it on Arcade (hardest) difficulty.

Interestingly, I didn't gain too much of a score advantage over my runs that don't take them. I took a look at the other 3 Arcade difficulty no-death runs I've uploaded to this channel, and I say on average that you can score about 40,000-50,000 more points by taking all five of them over the course of a full 1CC, which is lower than I expected. Where you really gain an advantage is from lives: I had 22 extends by the end of the first loop, whereas on a regular no-death run on this difficulty, I'll have around 10.

For those who don't know, some of these bonus stages do have prerequisites for activating them, which are as follows:
Stage 2: There are no prerequisites to enter this stage.
Stage 3: You must've destroyed all ground-based enemies before entering this stage.
Stage 4: Nothing can be highlighted on the power-up bar.
Stage 5: The hundreds digit of your score must be a 3, 5, or 7.
Stage 7: You must pass through the tiny gate midway through the level.

I decided to stop recording after finishing Loop 1 because it takes way too long to game over with that many lives, and my endurance for Gradius games is not that high after finishing 1 loop. I am interested in doing a Normal difficulty score attack run, but when I'll do that is another story.
