HALO: THE MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION | HALO: REACH | BLIND LEGENDARY RUN PART 18
I was told that HALO REACH is the best HALO game. I entered this campaign for the first time in my release order playthrough of the MCC. That makes HALO REACH my 5th HALO game, so I have many things to compare it with. REACH chronologically takes me back before everything HALO thus far. I am curious what will my take on it be since I finally grew to like the Elites (and learned to not shoot at them anymore), and I am now back in time where they are still the enemy. I was told before that I could customize my campaign appearance, and I explored the options the game gives me, it was amazing! I finally decided to go through the catalog and do some shopping, and I do not have enough so I have to farm multiplayer, and now I have a reason to. After I finally did all the fashioning (which will probably not gonna last, I am going to do more off-screen), naturally, attempting to join each other in a session with other players has been a painful experience, again... But once the game started - whoa! The first shot is the planet REACH, the orbit, the landscape, followed by space feeling music, as it should be, it is the name of the game. A human colony that kinda of reminds me of the Earth, but at the same time, the music, colors, the atmosphere, it gets to keep that alien vibe, unknown, mysterious, at least to me as a player, I am very curious. Only HALO CE pulled this off before. I get introduced not only to a new Spartan but to a bunch of them! It is Team Noble, and I am the newest member of their family. Originally I thought they were just copy-pasting the ODST intro that Tricia Helfer had to carry on her own, but here it's done right, they are all doing great without overdoing it. And this might be too early on to pick a favorite, but I think that JORDGE is going to be! He might not be the leader but he is big and feels like the strongest that can take care of and protect the whole Noble family. He also showed compassion and care for the woman we found, I wish cops in real life were like him. He seems like a really good guy, so I am going to call him our TEDDY BEAR. Beast on the battlefield against the foes, and best bro to his friends. My character is the newest addition to, and as much as intimidating JORDGE looks like, if it was me to be a new guy there, I think he would be the first I'd talk to and make friends with. I do like that CARTER also stood up for KAT, and I think they would all protect each other. Hopefully, I can prove I am worthy of being part of their team. Strangely enough, this reminds me a little of Power Rangers or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, therefore I will be looking forward if the game can provide more free time between Noble team members, maybe after all this chaos, so we can just sit, eat pizza, and chat, hopefully not in sewers! The mechanics are also good! I never really liked HALO CE's power pickups because they activate right away and run out, so you cannot plan or customize your playstyle. HALO REACH addresses this with upgrades where your armor has an ability on cooldowns, and the pickups you find in the world are permanent replacements (during that life). Of course, this is still far from the playstyle customization I had in Mass Effect, and still feels very limited, but is a welcomed addition and a step in the right direction. Cinematic takedowns are another great addition to the game, but just like every other HALO game. Another "issue" I have is that I am not used to having stories and events play out without me being present because sometimes my teammates run ahead and trigger stuff I do not see, but sometimes they happen during heavy action so I cannot focus. When I add that this is live and I am also tending to the chat, my attention is further divided, and have to gather my thoughts to write this summary after re-watching my recorded file. This is something I need to work on, and is not the game's fault. I always had my concentration fall off from important stuff with FPS, and even now in the fifth HALO game, it still affects me to some levels. Love the little tinny RPG elements, the co-op, and the vehicles, need to learn more about the guns (I do not like the new design of the rifle), and Elites look amazing but also monsters alike. There is enough room for exploration and pondering, but when there is action, it is a chaotic warzone that requires teamwork, and all of it executed the best than any HALO game thus far. I will, of course, need to finish the entire HALO REACH game before I decide if it's better than HALO CE, for me. But as it stands so far, it looks very promising and capable.
