Howdy folks, welcome to a bit more of an involved description than usual. Off the bat I want to clarify what this series is: a goofy edutainment docuseries made in Minecraft focusing on the Prehistoric Nature mod, intending to educate people on the early prehistory of Earth that I wish I was more exposed to when I was younger. I do research, write scripts, cheat, use creative mode, and all that jazz. While I pose it as a sequel to my most recent Minecraft Dinosaurs Let’s Play series it is by most means unrelated. The premise is that I time traveled from there and got lost, and it’s not entirely untrue. I have, in fact, lost my save I used in that series, alongside all the saves from my much older Minecraft videos. I may eventually script a return to that world but barring future developments it would be completely artificial. In terms of moving on from that, it’s mostly just because it took a whole lot of time I felt could be better used. In a series like this both I and the audience get to learn, and I don’t have to spend nearly as much time recording and cutting, which can in turn go to increasing the quality through research, scripts, better editing, and offscreen builds. Hopefully it’s still just as entertaining, albeit in a different way.

This is not meant to be a roleplay series. There will be no plot, characters, etc. All the stuff that borders on that is mostly just to facilitate the educational aspects of the series. Think of something like the Nigel Marven documentaries, which this was heavily inspired by. I’m playing myself creating a documentary youtube series, creating an actual edutainment series in reality. How much I acknowledge the gameness of the series will probably vary with time. While it isn’t introduced in this episode another main focus of the series will be the creation of a Prehistoric Aquarium, and eventually zoo as a whole, so it will also be showing off that, while maintaining the educational nature of the series.

Important notes about Prehistoric Nature, my portrayal of the mod, etc. The main mod I’m using is one I’m rather new to, Prehistoric Nature. It’s a tremendously massive mod, genuinely insanely big, and shockingly under the radar. All that being said, I won’t be interacting with the vast majority of its systems or survival experience, for a variety of reasons both in direction and just personal taste. I’ll also be dramatizing and to a degree misrepresenting the mod for the sake of education. For instance, the time machine used is all decoration around a portal from the mod to the Precambrian dimension, with the Hadean being just a set of biomes within that dimension. I’ll likely do similar things to this going forward, perhaps even more distinct from the actual gameplay depending on how I decide to handle different formations and coexisting creatures once I reach life in the later dimensions. Furthermore the diving suit and air tank are from a separate mod, and are in no way necessary for survival in the Precambrian dimension (as towards the end of the Precambrian once stuff gets interesting the air would be relatively breathable anyways). The big thing I want to be careful with is handling the separation between Fossils and Archeology and Prehistoric Nature. While I’m playing on a modified version of the official modpack that contains a fusion of both, I absolutely don’t want to conflate the two mods for the sake of both teams. They’re separate projects, and something like using the FA time machine in the time machine build is something I’ll be very careful with. If anyone from the mod teams by some insane chance is watching this and cares I am more than happy to make that distinction more clear. At the minimum at some point I intend to make an old fashioned “mod review” of Prehistoric Nature, so hopefully that will suffice.

As one last brief mention because I cover it in a pinned comment, if anyone has corrections, suggestions, clarifications about accuracy, I will have a pinned comment to reply to with things like that and just detailing my overall corrections process for incorrect information. This series is nothing without being educational and without viewers like you, so that’s extremely important.

The lovely people on the Prehistoric Nature discord server, and many of their messages which I stalked through.
Among many others this isn’t like a school assignment I feel like a nerd for even including these at all.

Dang I actually got shockingly close to reaching the character limit that's scary and I am wasting my life 5000
