Hogs of War is a humorous, overlooked classic developed by Infogrames Sheffield for Playstation and PC in 2000, and is a turn-based tactical game in the vein of the "Worms" series of games, in which this game is heavily influenced and is a respectable homage to the Worms titles, Team 17, and Andy Davidson. In the game, you are simply the commander of a platoon of anthropomorphic pigs who are out to take control of Saustralasia and get the vast majority of "swill" into your possession... for he who controls the swill controls the lifeblood of pigs and thus the world! Naturally, pig armies from all over want the swill and you have to be the one to get it for yourself.

In the game, you play on a variety of maps in multiplayer mode (two to four players) or you can play the single player campaign with over two dozen missions. The game takes place in third person and is an expansion on the Worms formula, where you can upgrade characters using points to enhance their abilities or choose from forty crazy gadgets which can help you in your war efforts. You can also use terrain to your advantage by sending enemies into traps, blowing open structures to get to the goodies inside, hiding, and more. The pigs have a variety of personalities based on team and region, and the game's comedic aspect is in part illustrated by the famous British comedian, Rik Mayall.

The game has good audio and decent visuals for its time, but it excels in simply being a genuinely fun game to play. I recommend it if you can find it; it's pretty common in PAL territories, but fairly uncommon in the U.S. We have some videos of the game in action. Enjoy.
