Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is a top-down shooter video game co-developed by Dennaton Games and Abstraction Games, and published by Devolver Digital. It takes place before, during and after the events of Hotline Miami, focusing on the backstory and aftermath of the previous protagonist, Jacket, after slaying parts of the Russian mafia at the behest of anonymous tips left by his answering machine. The backstory of other characters are also focused on heavily.

The game was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux on 10 March 2015. In North America, the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions released on the same day, a day later in Europe, and on June 25 of the same year in Japan. An Android port was released on August 4 of the same year. The game was ported onto Nintendo Switch alongside the first one in the Hotline Miami Collection on 19 August 2019, which was later released onto the Xbox One and Stadia in 2020 on 7 April and 22 September respectively. The gameplay of Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number plays similarly to it's predecessor, Hotline Miami, but expanded upon. Featuring thirty main "scenes" compared to the first games sixteen "chapters", and thirteen playable characters, each their own interpretations of the story and abilities, compared to the first games two playable characters, Jacket and Biker. The masks mechanic from the first game returns for certain characters alongside new mechanics, such as dodging and dual wielding, exclusive to certain characters as well. A different character or group of characters is available at the start of each chapter, with each chapter telling part of the story from said character's perspective.

Upon completion of the normal game, a new Hard Mode is unlocked. In Hard Mode, enemies are more difficult to take down, weapons have reduced ammo, and some abilities are taken away from the player, such as "enemy-locking".

After the game's release, a level editor was released on 22 June 2016 after being postponed from Spring 2015, allowing players to create their own individual levels or custom stories, complete with cutscene and dialogue editing, which can then be published via the Steam Workshop on Windows.
