How the programmer became a priest. Bringing real people to the war torn world of This War of Mine.
From the very beginning of our work on This War of Mine, the goal was to put action in the modern world. That’s why the buildings and whole environment looks like current-day cities. We took the same approach when creating the characters cross your path in the game.
Civilians during war hardly look like those shown in Hollywood movies, with shiny teeth and combed hair, no matter the circumstances. That’s why we decided we weren't using professional actors or anonymous 3D models as characters in the game. You will meet real people instead – us, our relatives, our friends. Regular folks, like you and us.
Take some time to watch the video where Olek, our programmer, becomes a priest in the world of This War of Mine, thanks to the scanning technology we are using.
All characters in the game were created this way - we took the time to invite and scan people of various ages and walks of life. You’ll meet them all during your struggle for survival.
