Click on to the three horizontal lines and go to settings and privacy
After that tap on settings and go down to account ownership and control section
After you tap it you will find an option deactivation and delete tap on it
Select either one of the option; deactivate to temporarily delete your account or delete account to permanently delete
You will also have an option to delete messenger in case if you want to continue to talk with people
Tap on delete account
Enter the password and tap on continue
