How to Create or Extend a Linux Swap Partition using Ubuntu (gparted). This tutorial applies to all Linux distros with a Swap Partition and room to extend or create the Linux Swap by creating open disk space. We'll go through the process using Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, but it applies to most Linux Distributions. Follow along and Create / Extend your Swap through gparted and the command line today. The swap partition helps unused memory get swapped out to the disk from physical memory. This allows for more memory resources with quick access times to be available for your system. Swap partitions also help with setting up hibernation on your Linux system. Swap partitions can be great and all they do is take up some disk space on your storage device. Swap partitions in Ubuntu Linux can be a pain to extend and create. That's why we'll learn about how to do it step-by-step today.
