How To Play Liars Dice, Blackjack, & Poker in Red Dead Redemption
In this video, I'll show you how Liars Dice, Blackjack, & Poker work in Red Dead Redemption.
Liar's Dice is a gambling activity featured in Red Dead Redemption and involves five traditional six-sided dice per player.
Liar's Dice is played by two or more players. Each player has one cup and starts with five dice. The game is started by choosing a player who will be the first to "bid." After selecting said player, the first round begins by all players picking up their cup containing five (5) dice, shaking, and slamming the cup upside down onto the table, thus concealing all dice.
At this point, each player may look at their dice and contemplate the mathematical probability of all dice on the table, including their own. The player chosen before the game began then states the opening "bid." An example bid would be "3 fours." The action is then passed clockwise to the player sitting to the left of the starter. The second player may then do one of three things: raise the bid; call a bluff; or declare the bid spot-on.
After a bluff or a spot-on bid is called, all players reveal their dice, and total the number of dice showing the face that was bid on. The round is ended by at least one player discarding one die each. After discarding a die, there is no way to regain it until the game is over and a new one begins. The opening bid of the next round is passed counterclockwise of the player that opened the last round's bidding. To start the next round, all players must put their dice back into their cup, shake, slam and repeat the steps of the typical round as laid out above.
Blackjack is an activity featured in Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Blackjack is a type of card game, and is traditionally associated with betting and gambling. It is also known colloquially as Twenty-One and Pontoon. In North America during the early twentieth-century time period that Red Dead Redemption is set in, blackjack is a serious parlor game that can sometimes result in violent disputes and death.
Marston can participate in games of blackjack throughout the game world and either win or lose considerable sums of cash. Saloons feature blackjack tables very prominently.
Marston is required to wager on these games, and can not cheat at this game with use of the Elegant Suit.
There are four locations where the player can engage in Blackjack: Thieves' Landing, Blackwater, Rathskeller Fork, and Chuparosa.
Keep in mind that to "win" at Blackjack for the 100% trophy, you simply need to leave the table with more chips than you began with. Even winning just one chip more than what you started with counts.
Blackjack can also be won by having "Five Card Charlie" when you have a total of five cards of any value without busting.
Poker is a type of card game traditionally associated with betting and gambling. It is available as a minigame in Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2. It can also be played in multiplayer with other players in Red Dead Online.
The player can participate in games of poker throughout the game world. Poker is often used as a money-making method, but the process is a risk as you can either lose or earn considerable sums of cash. Saloons prominently feature poker tables.
The poker rules used in-game are those from no-limit Texas Hold 'Em. You should have at least a passing understanding of the rules as the game does not tell you all of the information on a winning hand, only the primary information. Winning hands (in order from worst to best) are as follows: High card, 1 pair, 2 pairs, 3 of a kind, straight (five cards in sequence such as 9-10-Jack-Queen-King), flush (5 of one suit), full house (three of a kind plus a pair), four of a kind, straight flush (5 sequential cards of the same suit), royal flush (as with straight flush but 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace).
Players may use any combination of the two cards they hold and the five community cards to form the best five-card hand. The nature of community-card poker games greatly increases the chance of two or more players each having strong hands, thus increasing the level of action (betting).
