How to record PS3 footage with HDMI and HD60S/HD60 Pro
Under normal circumstances, plugging an HDMI cable into your capture card directly from your PS3 is going to result in tears. HDCP will block the signal automatically. Unlike PS4, PS3 doesn't have any option in the settings to disable HDCP.
I learned this knowledge from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCbuQ7Lsz1I via Youtuber Ch0pper. I am simply confirming that this still works in 2022 on PS3 OS version 4.84 because there was a question o f whether or not a future OS update might change that.
So ignore all that nonsense you might see with component cables, etc. and just get a $20 splitter and a second HDMI cable.
The specific HDMI splitter I use is shorturl.at/GUW08 made by Orei, plugged in to an Elgato HD60 Pro. It is also confirmed to work with the HD60 S so it will probably work with the Elgato 4K Pro and so will other splitters.
