This is me VeeKiraRay making my first how to video. I will attach links and instructions first and make a little backstory for this after them.

Silent Partner - Split Screen

Requirements:
Nintendo Switch
8BitDo Wireless USB adapter
PS4 controller
PC (Windows 10 tested)
Open Joystick Display software

Phase 1 - Preparing Nintendo Switch for PS4 controller:
1. Go to Nintendo Switch "System Settings" - "Controllers and Sensors" and set "Pro Controller Wired Communication" to On
2. Insert the 8BitDo Wireless USB Adapter to the left side of Nintendo Switch dock.

Phase 2 - Connecting PS4 controller to Switch:
1. Press the pairing button on the 8bitdo adapter so the led will rapidly blink.
2. Press and hold the PS and Share buttons on the controller until the light bar begins to strobe in double.
3. Wait until led lights on the USB adapter and the controller turn to a solid color.
4. If the controller connects but Switch doesn't respond to PS4 controller inputs you may need to restart the Switch.

Phase 3 - Preparing PC for connection:
1. Download Open Joystick Display from https://ojdproject.com/

Phase 4 - Connecting PS4 controller to PC:
1. While your PS4 controller is connected to the switch connect the Micro USB cable between your PC and controller
2. Run "Open Joystick Display.exe" You should see the inputs in the window that opens.

Phase 5 - Configure Open Joystick Display:
1. Use "Nintendo Switch" theme and a style of your choosing like "Switch Pro Controller".
2. Clone the "Microsoft Xbox 360 / One" profile mapping.
3. You need to alter a few button mappings and add missing screenshot button. Also the deadzone might need to be lowered a bit.

Extra Phase - Simultaneously play on the Switch and PC:
1. Download DS4Windows from https://ryochan7.github.io/ds4windows-site/
2. Start playing two different games with one controller or maybe the same roguelike for example some "Enter the Gungeon"

Extra Phase - Simultaneously play on the Switch, PC and Xbox one:
1. Enable streaming on your Xbox One
2. Launch the Xbox app on your Windows 10 PC and click connect

I like to show my controller in my gameplay videos and was bummed to find only instructions for getting controller inputs to Open Joystick Display from Nintendo Switch was with homebrew applications that required you to mod the Nintendo Switch.

I was fiddling around with my PS4 controller while doing the Final Fantasy 7 Remake playthrough videos and needed to recharge the controller. I hooked it up to my PC since it was closest when recording and noticed that the Open Joystick Display was taking inputs while I was also controlling the game.

Unfortunately I was already over halfway through that game and really wanted to capture my first playthrough so I decided not to include controller in last videos.

But this got me thinking since I recalled hearing other people using PS4 controllers to play their Nintendo Switch. So I ordered bought a 8BitDo Wireless USB Adapter and it worked like a charm. I now look forward to playing and recording other Nintendo Switch classics.

Also the extra phase was just a spur of the moment idea that open the pandora's box of possibilities for challeges.
