Linking your Facebook account to your Instagram account makes it easy to share pictures posted to one social media platform on the other social media platform. Additionally, linking your Facebook and Instagram accounts makes it incredibly easy to access your Instagram account if you ever get locked out. However, if you'd prefer to keep Facebook and Instagram separate and operate on each independently, you can easily unlink your Facebook account from your Instagram account.

Now let's walk through the steps to unlink your Facebook account from your Instagram account in the Instagram mobile app.

Step 1. Tap to launch the Instagram app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. You'll land on your Instagram home screen.

Step 2. Tap your Instagram profile icon in the lower right corner of the screen. Your Instagram profile screen appears.

Step 3. Tap the "Menu" icon in the upper right corner of the screen. The Menu icon features three horizontal lines. A menu flies in from the right side of the screen.

Step 4. Tap "Settings" at the bottom of the menu. The Settings screen opens.

Step 5. Tap "Account" in the Settings menu. The Account screen opens.

Step 6. Tap "Linked Accounts." The Linked Accounts screen appears.

Step 7. Tap "Facebook" in the list of linked accounts. The Facebook screen opens.

Step 8. Tap "Unlink Account." A message appears asking if you're sure you want to unlink your Instagram account from your Facebook account. Tap "Yes, Unlink." You'll be returned to the Linked Accounts screen, where you'll now see Facebook grayed out, indicating that Facebook is no longer linked to your Instagram account.
