I recently upgraded to new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, and restored from my Time Machine backup over my network. Time Machine restores over the network are super slow, and this took me 6 hours to get back up and running. In this video I show you a better way.
I show you how to use the #WDSSDBlue, an inexpensive internal SSD, and put it into an external Thunderbolt 3 SATA enclosure. This gives me direct, super-fast storage. Now I can backup directly to the SSD, remove it from my old computer, and then plug it into my new one in order to perform a BLAZING FAST restore. This is definitely the way to go when you buy a new computer if time is of the essence.
