i built myself a server from an old pc
Building a server is complicated hardcore IT stuff, right? Nope. In this VLog, I document myself hacking together a server from an old ten-year-old desktop computer and no more than two new parts: an ATX form factor 2U server case and an SSD for storage. This server computer is perfectly capable of doing simple server tasks like websites, server development or custom server applications, and even NAS (network-attached storage) if you use the proper operating system and more drives. The total cost of this was about 200€ and you can lower that to 150€ if you get a used case.
This thing runs the awesome Debian distro. Get it here for free today, it comes with a desktop out-of-the-box: https://www.debian.org/
Just as a disclaimer, I am not a trained IT professional and have no clue what I'm doing. If you want to try this yourself, look stuff up online, and don't consult this video. I am skipping over many boring parts and things I didn't bother to tell the camera, so it may seem easier than it is or you may miss critical nuances I couldn't really tell you about. If you want to do something like this for any sort of professional environment, PLEASE consult a qualified professional and probably hire them to do it for you. I'm not responsible for anything.
