Illustrating a Dumb Gun Law From My Country
The law in question states that a firearm or any other type of weapon that fires a projectile must be carried in an "appropriate" bag, box, safe or container unloaded and separated from ammunition, in such a way so as to prevent it's immediate use and loading. The spirit of this is fine with me in all honesty. It means you can't carry a loaded firearm around town (without a special license which realistically nobody alive can get). The problem is the law is written by people who have never handled a firearm in their lives. This they thing that carrying bullets in a bag next to the gun or a separate pouch is ok but that it's a problem if the bullets are in the same bag as the gun. This makes literally 0 difference is the time it takes to load the gun and fire it. The law also makes it unclear as to whether you are supposed to disassemble the gun and carry it that way or not, it's mostly left up to the police to decide how they want to interpret it (which is often the case with our gun laws).
