'Holding Thoughts in My Heart' (also called 'Dear to the Heart') from Final Fantasy VII, plus a little detour into Final Fantasy VI ('Aria di Mezzo Carattere'). This is my entry for the #SoundoleChillOut2022 Competition hosted by @Soundole. It's a slow movement for string orchestra & friends — can I get on one of those "Relaxing Classical" CDs, do you think? xD

I'm enjoying listening to all the other entries on the playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkItiWe33xE8g3R9dxp3qeoxrR69a2f4O
Thank you everyone for the nice comments!
I am on twitter at https://twitter.com/sonatina_3 (but I still don't really get twitter so..! Well, I would like to chat with more music folks.)

With the shadow puppet theatre combined with real video, I was thinking power of imagination, making the imaginary worlds feel real, especially when you're young but also just in general. That and all my nostalgia and love for these soundtracks! And the opening to Fantasia, as I remember it, that was also an inspiration of course.

The music is mainly based on Holding Thoughts In My Heart from FFVII (which is itself an arrangement of the Main Theme) … I zoomed in on a few elements - the opening figure, the triplets, and the line the top notes of the triplets form - and spun them out, and then it turned into the middle section of 'Aria di Mezzo Carattere' from FFVI, which to me is one of the most heart-wrenching things, I love it. So I went with that! The two keys' relationship is also from Holding Thoughts.

You might also hear a few more little motifs from VI and VII……....

Of course most of this is not played live, but I did write it so it *could* be! The harp part would be playable from start to finish with levers (or pedals); sadly my street-find 12-string harp has no levers so getting all the notes requires retuning a few times. The music box part can all be played on the 30 note box (actually a pretty simple part too.) The string orchestra you see is the Orchestral Ensemble Seoul OES conducted by Gyu-Seo Lee, really playing Dvorak, which you can listen to here: https://youtu.be/4Aqw7O4ybZY used in accordance with a Creative Commons license. I've never tried something like this before, maybe a silly idea (don't look TOO closely) but in the end I'm happy with the result~ And the oboe is indeed played on oboe by me.

Thank you for watching! Please like and comment if you feel so moved.
