Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has said the Centre views infrastructure development in the country's North-East as a key element in the strategy for developing the region. He directed the Planning Commission to set up a committee with representatives from north-eastern states to monitor and improve coordination for infrastructure development in the region at a meeting of the Chief Ministers of the region.
