In September of 2022, 69-year-old Roger Golubski, a former detective with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, faced legal repercussions for assaults he committed two decades earlier, when he was still on the force. As detailed in court records, Golubski was indicted on 6 federal counts of deprivation of civil rights. In 2017, Lamonte McIntyre was liberated after spending 23 years in prison. McIntyre contended that Golubski had framed him. The wrongfully convicted man was ultimately awarded a settlement of $12.5 million, but Golubski’s legal troubles were only just beginning.
