Intel now has ray tracing... and Ryzen's real good at it! | Intel vs AMD
We can now do an Intel vs AMD battle in ray tracing too, because Intel has created a manufacturer agnostic method of doing the same kind of ray tracing as Nvidia's RTX cards, but using CPU cores instead of Turing's RT Cores.
It doesn't need either Windows 10, DirectX 12, DirectX Raytracing, or dedicated Nvidia hardware. Theoretically it should mean that games which utilise this new ray tracing technique will take better advantage of the extra cores and threads in modern processors that today's games do not.
Theoretically. It's only present in World of Tanks right now... but interestingly, for an Intel-championed technique, AMD's Ryzen CPUs are just that little bit better at it than equivalent Core processors.
