Jaw-Dropping Display: Super Rare V8 Cars Gathered at the Motor Museum of WA Part 1
The Aussie Garage Interview we catch with Patrick, the Manager of the Motor Museum of WA at Whiteman Park to check out the jaw dropping display of Super Rare Cars gathered in one place. The Automotive history is overwhelming. So lets get started.
History of the Motor Museum of WA
The Motor was established in 1994 that came about due to Percy Martin Collection that was auctioned off by the government at the time and Motor Enthusiasts were not happy about selling off the Motoring History in Western Australia. So a group of businessman that are Motor Enthusiasts got together and was lead by Maurice Brockwell. They established a not for profit trust and partnered with Motoring Car Clubs in WA. The started with 1 building and now they have 2 buildings, over 200 cars, Motorcycles, Die Cast Models, Publications and so much more over the 28 years they have now been operating. This is also due to over 90 Volunteers that run the Museum every day for 365 days a year and because this service to the Museum a dedicated Volunteers Lane has been established with a Star next to their names for each five years of service. With Ken Devine being the longest Volunteer with 28 years of Service to the Museum.
The first building is called Brockwell Hall and the second is Ricciardo Hall.
The Museum is made up of sections such as the Muscle Cars, Racing Cars, Standard Cars, Die Cast Display, Vintage and Mid range sections. All areas are truly amazing.
There are Muscle cars like this HG Holden Monaro that is a one owner vehicle that was bought when he was 17 years old and had it ever since. Just like this Valiant Charger RT and XW Ford Falcon GT. However, the are loads of others as well.
Rare Cars
One of the rarest cars in the collection is by Cliff Byfield who is a Manual Arts Teacher that had a massive passion for Motoring. The museum has three of his cars on display, which are two unique Jaguars and one Riley Vehicle. The First is the Byfield Jaguar that he want to build to revile European Cars back in the 1980's, so he design a car from clay and then used that build this custom car. It has stunning features, such as hidden door handles, custom roof, custom jarrah interior and V12 Engine. a Very inspirational man that just celebrated his 100th birthday and is still working on cars today.
Giocatollo Race Care that only 15 were made on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland and was designed by a F1 Designers to help make the carbon fiber body, Only 15 of these cars were very built and only 13 are left.
Daniel Ricciardo's RB10 the won in 2014 with the Red Bull Racing Team. This is a Complete Car with Engine, Gearbox and all racing Features that could hit the track tomorrow and race. Daniel has loaned this to the Museum for a Display.
The Blair Allsopp Collection is a massive collection of Slot and Die Cast Model Cars with over 14000 models in the collection that were donated to the Motor Museum of WA. At present they only have a quarter on display at present.
Mickey Thompson Mach 1 Drag Funny Car is another one that is amazing. In 1969, Ford wanted to capture the minds of the Motoring Enthusiasts, so they poured thousands into thousands into this Mickey Thompson Drag Funny Car. It won countless awards and races in the USA and is now owned by a WA collector that has also raced it 3 times at the Motorplex in Kwinana WA.
There is so many cars cars in there to mentions, like Peter Brocks A9X Torana and XU1 Torana Replicas, 1973 Holden Monaro 1 of 1, Leyland P76 Force 7V Coupe, Valiant Pacer and more. The Motor Museum also has over 30,000 Publications of Magazine, Trade Manuals, Manufacture Records and more that people can use for research about their cars. The Museum will print out all the information and help you out.
