Clip Description:
In this sad scene from The Green Mile, John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), who is innocent, accepts his fate and is ready to die. Paul (Tom Hanks), who doesn't want to kill what he sees as a gift from God, agrees to do what he says. It was one of the most moving scenes in movie history.
Movie Details:
There were scenes filmed in Shelbyville, Tennessee, Blowing Rock, North Carolina, and the old Tennessee State Prison. They were also filmed at Warner Hollywood Studios in West Hollywood, California. Production designer Terence Marsh built the indoor sets just for this movie. "We tried to make our set look like it had a lot of space." A sense of the past. And kind of a puzzle. "We chose the long windows that look like cathedral windows because there is a supernatural element to this movie [...] It gave us a lot of options," he said. The electric chair was also made to order, and it was based on ones found in real jails.
The title of the movie refers to the green floor that the prisoners walk on before they are put to death by an electric chair.
