Imprisoned Light is a retro style, pixel art, 2d platformer where the player characters defend a crystal (or two... we've never made it past two), against hordes of fantasy enemies.
Your opponents follow typical horror fantasy tropes, rendered completely horrorless by the whimsical art style. As you vanquish them they leave behind a glowing green essence (their souls... a nod to From Software's Opus perhaps?), which your character collects and which you then, by holding down a shoulder button, deposit into your crystal... adding this rubber bandy step and fetch aspect to gameplay. Once you fill the crystal you advance to the next level.
Initial levels are the same stage with the enemy types and density escalating bit by bit... we've only ever made it to the second backdrop, and we won't spoil. ;)
