I know this is kind of out of nowhere considering I am in the middle of doing KH2 but I finally figured out a way to record this fight on LV1 and I didn't want to wait until after finishing KH2 to upload it. What I basically did was I downloaded a 100% save file with an absurd amount of stat chips. I then rearranged the chips on the matrix to give myself the same stats I had on the file I originally recorded on, in addition to turning off abilities I didn't have.

First thing I tried was to use Targeting Scope strats like I did against the Bug Roxas but I quickly realized it was no good. Riku must be fought at close range as trying to get any distance results in him using either Dark Break or Dark Aura to teleport to you. Trying to deal with that and keeping a high Overclock while not maxing it is not possible. Next thing I tried was the Overclock Block strategy I used against Sora's Heartless. The trick is to Overclock Oblivion to trigger an ability that makes Sora automatically block attacks when possible while using an accessory that increases the Overclock gauge whenever I block. One of the neat things about using this strategy against Riku in particular is that blocking all 5 hits of his Dark Aura gives you a full Overclock gauge so you can easily charge to LV2 to gain Auto-Block. Doing this I can effectively just let the boss fill my Overclock for me before I blast him with a Finisher. It took a bit of testing but I eventually found the best Finisher to use, Speed Combo. Speed Combo basically lets you do a 15 hit combo with total invincibility and if your keyblade has All Critical, every hit will Crit doing massive damage in the process.

With a strategy in mind, the rest comes down to slight alterations for each form. As a reminder, blue is normal, yellow is fast, red has super armor and green is giant, has super armor and has more HP. Blue is fought the same was as normal Riku, block him and do a combo. Yellow is annoying, he recovers from stagger way too fast to get any more then one hit. You also cannot dodge Dark Aura the traditional way in this phase, the shockwave comes out far too fast to air slide so you have to Dodge Roll. Although it may not look like it, Dodge Roll does seem consistent in this phase at least. Red is easy, he is back to normal speed and while you can't attack him in most cases, you can get a nice combo off when he shields since he can't flinch.

Green... This is the scary phase of the fight and to be completely honest, I got very lucky. While in testing it took me several attempts to get through green phase without damage. While recording however, this fight only took 4 tries and and I never once failed green phase. Now it doesn't seem to bad considering the rest of the fight but there is one fatal issue... Dark Aura is entirely unavoidable while he is green. Because of how giant he is, you physically cannot avoid the shockwave at the end as far I could manage. It might be possible with more Air Slides but I only had 1. Because I couldn't avoid Dark Aura, I couldn't use it to unlock Auto-Block like I did for the rest of the fight. My original plan was to whittle him down to the bare minimum before he changes from red to green and then knock him into green while in LV2 Overclock. That way I would have the most time possible to exploit his shield's opening before finishing him with a Speed Combo. However... I failed at doing just that... I was taking that last Speed Combo very slowly to get him as close as possible and I ended up misjudging how much health he had and tipped in over into green phase with Speed Combo. From that point on, I was just winging it and hoping he would attack when I blocked. Luckily, he did and I got to LV2 Overclock safely and killed him with a final Speed Combo.

This is being played on the DeSmuME emulator. I don't have a DS/3DS capture card nor do I have the funds to get one. I am also using a high resolution 3D renderer at X3 setting to make the footage much cleaner.
