Kiro Plays Umineko When They Cry EP8 (Part 9: Magic Ending)
2Hi, I'm Kirostyle, a frog-themed martial artist Vtuber, and welcome to another Let's Play! This is Umineko When They Cry (Umineko no Naku Koro ni, literally "When the Seagulls Cry"), a Japanese doujin soft visual novel series developed by 07th Expansion and written by Ryukishi07. It is stylized as a sound novel / visual novel with no actual gameplay, involving a fantasy murder mystery that challenges readers to think and solve its riddles. It follows Higurashi When They Cry (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni) in the When They Cry series, although they do not share any major connections. The Japanese games were originally released in installments at Comiket 72 for PC from 2007 to 2010. They were later ported to PS3, PSP, iOS, Switch and PS4. The official English translations were released in 2016 and 2017 on Steam, published by MangaGamer.
Umineko is divided into eight episodes. Episodes 1-4 are called the Question Arcs (Umineko no Naku Koro ni) and episodes 5-8 are called the Answer Arcs (Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru). Each episode also contains two epilogues: Tea Party and ???. There are also additional side stories, Umineko no Naku Koro ni Tsubasa and Umineko no Naku koro ni Hane. There is a Japanese compilation of all the previous content and more, called Umineko no Naku Koro ni Saku. Umineko has also spawned an anime, a manga, and a fighting game spin-off called Golden Fantasia (Ougon Musou Kyoku).
The original PC release uses art by Ryukishi07. The Steam release uses the Umineko Pachinko art. I am using a mod, called 07th-Mod, which replaces the artwork with the PS3 port artwork by Alchemist.
