Last Straw is a tightly paced horror-thriller that follows a young waitress fighting for survival during a late-night killing spree in a rural diner. With a runtime well under 90 minutes, the film wastes no time dropping us into the chaos.
While the lead character is hard to root for at first due to her abrasive personality, the film still delivers with moments of tension, a synth-driven score that evokes 80s horror, and some creative twists on genre tropes. It’s not without its flaws—certain character decisions defy logic and the villain’s plan comes together a little too easily—but overall it’s a solid entry for fans of gritty, fast-paced thrillers.
