“The Bench in the Park”

Every morning, Mr. Lewis, a retired teacher, sat on the same wooden bench in the park. He watched the world go by—joggers, children, dogs, and young couples. People changed, seasons changed, but the bench and Mr. Lewis stayed the same.

One day, a teenager named Sam sat beside him. Sam looked frustrated, staring at his phone.

Mr. Lewis smiled gently. “Rough day?”

Sam sighed. “I failed my math test. Again. I’m just not good enough.”

Mr. Lewis nodded. “I used to teach math for 40 years. Want to know a secret?”

Sam looked up.

“The students who failed the most were often the ones who tried the hardest. Because they kept going.”

Sam was quiet for a moment. Then he smiled, just a little.

The next day, Sam came back—with a math book.

And so, every morning, the bench became more than wood and nails. It became a place of stories, lessons, and second chances.
