Let's Play Oblivion - Return of Shadows [Part 12]: Rating
Overall: 8/10
Graphics / Sound: 8.5/10
+ Great choice of anime music to fit the darker atmosphere of the mod
* However, it is music borrowed from another source, perhaps without permission
* The haven may be a bit convoluted, but is presented nicely and in a unique way
+ Custom armor and weapons are nice and fit with the theme
+ The player actually has access to the Shadowknight Armor
Storyline: 7.5-8/10
+ An overall good plot that tells a somewhat mean-spirited story
* Random anime references somewhat throw off the serious and dark tone
+ Engaging characters with personality
- Maybe too many "unused" or "useless" characters, though Chapter II may remedy this
* A bit of a sudden ending; maybe another Chapter II fix
Gameplay: 7/10
+ Interesting quests that go along with the tone of the story
+ A new faction to join
* A couple quests with confusing waypoints, or no direction (dependent on play style)
- Several oddities in scripting, some of which can be misleading with the "Directions Everywhere!" feature
+ "Directions Everywhere" is a unique idea, though, and may simply need more testing or experimenting
- Basic enemies with ridiculous amounts of health? (For no reason?)
Player Bonuses: 9/10
+ All the custom weapons and armor to be found in the haven, and from missions
+ Interesting "potion" items that can boost a player's stats or grant them spells
+ The vast haven hideout
+ Intriguing spells with neat scripting effects (Shadow Clone and Shadow Step in particular)
* No companions (at least in chapter 1), but the way the storyline is presented makes a lot of a Shadowknight's work seem solo anyway
