I got a chance to play and review Evil West, a game I've been eagerly anticipating for a long time now. The wait definitely payed off. While it was certainly not the type of game I was expecting it to be, It still definitely lived up to the hype.

Evil West is a story-driven 3rd Person shooter, that is unfortunately extremely linear. I understand the approach, and I feel the art direction would have suffered if it was setup any other way, so I don't dislike the Movie+ feel to the game, I was just surprised.

The story is fairly simple, and while I personally didn't care too much about the characters, I'm sure some of that old western charm will rub off on some people.

The gameplay or gunplay is very reminiscent of a Doom style of game, lots of guns to shuffle around, lots of enemies that have to be tackled in a certain way, and its up to you to be able to navigate the arena and deal with them all.

Boss fights were excellent, and on hard difficulty, the game posed quite the challenge at times. I'm curious about going back in on NG+ with a coop buddy at some point.
