I personally feel YouTube is doing this more for a monetary reason rather than to actually protect its creators. The honest truth is creators have already had the ability to disable the like and dislikes button for years.

With that many creators already had a solution if they personally felt there was an issue with the dislikes on their videos.

YouTube wants watch time, they need people's eyes to be on the screen for as long as possible to generate money from Ads. In this video I talked about how hiding the dislike count can help Google and Youtube accomplish like.
