Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth - 43 - Chapter 7 Beginning
3Chapter 7, with the very simple name "Trouble", opens in the forest as Wong Tou shares some information about Bryce's real target, a little girl named Lani who could interfere with his decades-old plan of ruling over Hawaii. Kiryu reacts very strongly to the information as her situation reminds him of Haruka, but there's little time to ponder things as Yamai and his crew are on the hunt for Wong Tou and have no qualms setting the forest ablaze for it!
This leads into an immediate boss fight against them, Yamai is level 26 while his seven underlings are level 25, area attacks will help dispatch them quicker so you can focus on the boss, there are also flaming pieces of wood that fall in the arena for you to use in Weapon Attacks.
Yamai himself retains his ability to strike twice per turn, and his old skills are joined by the new Bite the Dust, dealing Fire damage with a chance to Burn the target. As he gets lower on HP, he will unleash his Iron Will, announcing the use of Iron Squall, an AoE three-hit combo.
He retains his usual weakness to Water, so exploit that for a smoother time, you don't have Tomizawa in the party, so hopefully Ichiban, Kiryu, and Chitose are all properly set up.
Once the fight ends, Kiryu will leave the party as Yamai's crew capture him, but thankfully Adachi and Nanba arrive from Japan to give a hand in the rescue operation! They come at level 26 with level 17 jobs, which is pretty nice, but their bond levels are at zero, so it's time to take them around town to chat with them, or at least with Adachi as Nanba has no conversation (A clear hint that he's not staying for long).
After that and some Drink Links, we finally go to Yamai turf and soon find good sources of information, you just need to beat the information out of them first. A fight with five level 25 enemies ensues, nothing difficult.
As we reach our destination, we're faced with eight level 26 enemies before we can enter, and five more await us inside of the Theater Building. After that, it's time to go through the place, which of course brings its lot of enemies. I really enjoy the music in it though! And every fight gets Slugfest as the battle theme, which is a banger!
You can find some good gear in it too, a full armor set and weapons for Nanba and Adachi's base jobs. You get one healing spot before the boss, so don't be afraid to spend MP as you make your way through the place.
And once at the top, it's time for another fight against Yamai, and he's got yet another banger of a theme! He's level 28 with three level 27 goons, AoE skills will dispatch them quickly to let you focus on the main course. Yamai with the skills you're familiar with, but once he reaches around 75% HP, some encouragement from his girl and liquor gets him to fight seriously, which changes his moveset quite a bit!
Keelhauler now becomes a spin attack around him, Taste Steel becomes a three-hit combo with a tricky animation to throw off your guard timing, and he can "Go Batshit" to lower your party's defense. The hostesses can provide Extra Motivation that buff Yamai's Agility too.
Once he gets down to 50% HP, a cutscene will start with a QTE, succeed to get extra damage and a knockdown.
Overall a super fun boss fight with some very neat mechanics and man that soundtrack is so good!
After our victory, Ichiban and Yamai have a talk to set things straight, and the Yakuza is surprisingly agreeable and lets the party go with Kiryu.
After he wakes up though, Kiryu is sent back to Japan with Nanba as his condition makes him a hindrance in Hawaii.
This new day brings a few more opportunities to chat with Adachi before we go to the orphanage too, it's time for side content again!
