The lads from No Objective Gaming are jumping on the Loot Box hype train this week and discuss the seemingly new feature to Triple-A titles: PAY-TO-WIN! We say seemingly, however we discuss the systems that have been in place for several years within the FIFA, Madden and NHL games that apply this system to great effect (financially). Aaron and Jordan run through the currently discussed Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot box system, and the other culprit, Middle Earth: Shadow of War’s ranked game mode and loot box system and give their thoughts on the implications that this has for gaming as a whole. Is this a bad omen of things to come from money-hungry publishers, or is it just a phase? Is a boycott of these games a solution to this problem? Is this system acceptable when these games are not “free to play”? All of that and more on that topic on this week’s episode! We also discuss the week in gaming news, and the release of Middle Earth: Shadow of War and The Evil Within 2 to consoles and PC.
