This is the best highlight reel I have ever made, and might remain unchallenged for some time. Please watch it, I put a lot of effort and energy into it. It is also of one of my favorite games ever made, which has some problems as the review elucidates but is genuine magic to me and I love it to bits. Go play it! Now that all of that is out of the way, there's a lot to say about this reel, but the first thing I would say about it is that it was tumultuous. It started off with a runtime 1:48, which is actually less than my last two highlight reels. So that was simple - Halfway through, I stopped to edit a segment in this that required voice acting from someone... Then I got hacked. Thankfully I was able to salvage my files during the format, and all of my progress was saved. It was actually kind of freeing because I had mountains of garbage on that thing and now my computer runs really fast because we moved the windows boot to the SSD. Anyway, so that was a pause period. Then I picked it up again during the Extended Dark. I was originally scared that I wouldn't meet the time window to get this out during the short dark... Then it became the Extended Dark when Lore lost his apartment and is now working hard on constructing a basement. So it turns out I had some time, so I got to work. Then, once the 1:40 was done I went back to the vods to grab some additional clips, including a 40 minute discussion on encounter design. But I grabbed... A bit too much, because the final runtime ended up being three and a half hours. Now obviously I've shaved a LITTLE time off of that, but that was still a monolithic amount of content. It's fine though.
I hope you enjoy this one, it has a lot of fun animations, tons of sound design, a lot of visual and audial gags and some amazing voice acting from some of my friends, as well as some brilliant discussions of game design and visual storytelling.
