In the Story Mode, It turns out that Adult-Sized Mario & Luigi must cooperate with their Past Baby-Sized selves to defeat the overpowering & intoxicating Population of Evil Alien-like Shroobs (Who look like Purple Living Mushroom Monsters!) abusing the works of time! Adult Princess Peach (yet again) at Present-day Mushroom Kingdom ends up getting tragically kidnapped by these Shroobs traveling back into the past, and the Adult and Baby Mario and Luigi Bros. must prevent these scampering Shroobs from collecting "Time Holes" so that the works of Time for the Past, Present, and Future will not be further corrupted! Of course, as always, not only do the Adult Mario Bros. learn their own Exhilarating Bros. Attacks and Moves, but with the Baby Bros. on their shoulders, they must also vividly pursue efforts to strengthen and manifest them for a better teamwork experience despite their Age or Size gaps! This means that we can finally also play as the Baby Bros, which can help us give dynamic & fresh gameplay moments when solving different complicated puzzles & battling some fierce Enemies to better understand how Adult Mario & Luigi truly grew up from birth to Present-Day!
