1Now I don't know all the intricacies of all the Madden games so I can't tell you what did change, but flipping back to 97...was it just the title screen that changed? Probably.
You may or may not be surprised to know that, yes, despite 1998 being a very late year for a SNES game to be released, the PlayStation and Saturn were still using sprites for players. Which means that this wasn't actually that far removed from the next-gen games. Sure, they had 3D stadiums, better sound effects, and commentary, but it isn't as huge of a leap forward as you might have imagined.
