So maybe you have just finished a long dive into the third layer and even defeated the boss, giving you access to the fourth layer of the Abyss.
So maybe you also wanted to have a quick look into the Goblets of Giants area before heading back to Orth.
If you go to Riko you are now trapped in her questline and thus not able to return to the surface, and that is okay... as long as you have weapons, food and/or Salt in your Backpack.
If you DO run out of recources down here, you are usually screwed BUT there is still one way to gain food for the way back up while forced to accompany Riko, and that is the eggs from the endlessly respawning birds who can be grinded even without a weapon thanks to our friend Terminator Riko (who, in case of being knocked out will soon respawn when you walk through the area for a bit).
