8-Bit Eric reviews Maniac Mansion for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Maniac Mansion is a hidden nes gem in my opinion, It is a point and click game that has you take control of a group of teams that have to save Dave Miller's girlfriend.

This has always seemed like one of those weird NES games, that I have always tried to play through, and always wanted to complete, but just never got around. I totally missed out on it as a kid, in fact, I never heard about it until I was already in my 20s.

So now is as good as ever a chance for me to check out this quirky and unique game. Maniac Mansion uses a point-and-click interface to guide the main hero Dave Miller, a teenage heart throb through the mansion of the fictional Edison family in an effort to rescue his girlfriend from a mad scientist.

Sounds kinda kinky don’t it? Along the way, Dave will rely on the player using their nagging to solve puzzles and avoid dangers. There is a menu on the bottom part of the screen with fifteen action commands, such as "Walk To" and “Unlock”. Now before I continue any further, Dave will not be embarking on this quest alone!

The player starts the game by choosing two out of six characters to accompany Dave Miller. Talk about a Breakfast club variety of teenagers. Each character has their own personality and even rocking ass theme song that plays while you control them.Be wise when it comes to your choice, because certain characters allow you to reach and solve certain puzzles. Who do I pick, I have no clue? Maniac Mansion has five possible endings, based on which characters are chosen, which survive, and what the characters accomplish.

This is definitely a game ahead of it’s time. But enough about all this shit, let’s go ahead and start!

The game begins as Dave Miller and whichever friends you picked outside the mansion, as you prepare to enter to rescue his girlfriend, Sandy Pantz, who was kidnapped by Dr. Fred.

Sandy Pantz? Better than Sandy Vagina, amirite?
